I read the story of the five boys who gang-raped a female student of Abia State University with sadness and shock.

I have never understood rape. It is so cruel, unmanly, evil, and cowardly.

This particular story is gruesome and traumatizing – five boys taking turns on one girl for about an hour amidst her pleas and struggles. I am short of words. This act is despicable.

Those boys should be found and made to face the full force of the law. It must be made clear that this sort of animalistic behaviour is not tolerated among us.

The young lady also needs lots of support to help her recover from this terrible experience. She needs both medical and psychological help.

We must speak out and ensure that both lines of action are pursued to their logical conclusions.
